Major Midget Draft September 24

The draft gives players a chance to move to another AAA Zone if they participate.

In order to be eligible for the draft, players must:

1. Be of Major Midget age i.e. born in 1992 and 1993.  Players born in 1994 (Minor Midget) are not eligible for the draft.
2. Be properly registered in their home association.
3. Have attended the Eastern Ontario Wild “AAA” tryouts and been released, subject to a legitimate tryout process. Players who ask to be released to play elsewhere are not eligible.
4. Acknowledge that by entering the draft they will play for the team that drafts them.  Players must be prepared to go to any team, and are not allowed to choose the team they wish to play for.

An on-ice session will be held in Kemptville on Thursday September 24 at 7pm to allow coaches from all five zones to evaluate players.  The draft will take place immediately after the on-ice evaluation.  All teams are required to attend both the evaluation session and draft.

The following rules will apply to the draft:

1. Teams will draft in reverse order from the standings in the 2008-09 season.
2. Teams must present their confirmed rosters as of September 23, the evening prior to the draft.
3. Any player chosen in the draft is guaranteed a spot on the team that selects him – players are drafted to be part of the team, and NOT just to attend a tryout.
4. No team can release a player from their submitted roster based on choosing a player(s) in the draft.

Further details about the draft will be posted as they become available, based on the number of players who register for the draft, including goaltenders.
