Wild Players Awarded Educational Bursaries

2011-04-29

Major Midget teammates are winners of $1000 bursaries as part of OEMHL educational program.

Winners of the league's annual bursary awards were recently announced and teammates Alexandre Charlebois and Simon Forgues of the Major Midget Wild were 2 of the lucky winners.

The OEMHL annually awards a $1000 bursary to each of five midget players for the pursuit of higher education.  Coaches of the five local AAA midget teams are asked to nominate four players from their team who would best exemplify the following criteria:

  • Academic excellence
  • Community involvement
  • Role model characteristics
  • On Ice work ethic and display of team and individual skills
  • Positive attitude
  • Demonstrated future career planning
The nominated players then fill out nomination forms, provide school transcripts, write an essay and meet with the selection committee after which 5 winners are announced. The formal award presentations will take place at the OEMHL AGM on Saturday, April 30th in Kemptville.

The Wild congratulate both Alexandre and Simon and wish them well in their future educational pursuits.
