2011-06-27

Alan Quine, who played with the Wild in 2007-08, has been drafted by the Detroit Red Wings.

Peterborough Petes star selected 85th overall

Alan Quine, who played with the Eastern Ontario AAA Wild as a Major Bantam in 2007-08, was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.  Quine, who currently plays with the Peterborough Petes in the OHL, was chosen in the third round, 85th overall.

“He’s a great kid who is a threat to score every time he gets the puck,” said Rick Legault, who coached Quine with the AA Cumberland Barons in 2006-07 and again with the Wild the following season. “He works as hard in practice as he does in games, and it’s great to see him enjoying so much success at the next level.”  Quine was captain of the Wild in his lone season with Eastern Ontario.

Quine played his Minor Midget year in Toronto for the Junior Canadiens.  He was selected second overall in the 2008 OHL draft by the Kingston Frontenacs, then traded to the Peterborough Petes during the 2010-11 season.  He scored 26 goals and 53 points in the 2010-11 season.  Congratulations Alan!
