The Eastern Ontario Wild Champions of the 2014 Bell Capital Cup - Major Peewee AAA

The Eastern Ontario Wild celebrate their victory over the New England Junior Falcons as the Major Peewee AAA Championship of the Bell Capital Cup took place at the Canadian Tire Centre

A wise man once said " It's tough to beat a team twice and our team never loses in Red " :)

This was the case at the 2013 Bell Capital Cup where the Major Peewee AAA team won their first tournament of the season in the 6 team AAA division.

The tourney began on Saturday, December 28th with a tough test out of the gate. Their opponent, Compuware (Detroit), looked to hand the Wild a loss with 2 quick goals in the first period. The Wild found their legs in the second and third period roaring back to tie the game only to have the highly ranked Detroit club tally a late goal to edge the Wild by 1. Final 3-2. The club bounced back with a vengeance that afternoon with their most lopsided victory this year handing the Rochester Americans a 9-0 pounding.

Sunday began with the club only needing a win to qualify for the semi finals on Monday. Despite a lackluster performance against the Boston Penguins having trailed 2-0, the club rallied for 3 straight goals handing the Penguins a 3-2 loss. The New England Falcons provided the opposition on Sunday evening for the Wild also handing the team a 4-2 loss and sealing the club's fate, a rematch with Detroit.

Monday, Championship Day, brought new hope for the Peewee Wild, they had not lost in Red jerseys in the tourney and had redemption on their side. The Wild prevailed 3-1 in an exciting back and forth affair which included great goaltending, fantastic special teams on the power play and penalty kill.

The Canadian Tire Center, home of the Ottawa Senators, was the final destination for the club and a rematch with New England Falcons awaited. The Wild quickly clipped the Falcons wings and jumped out to a 3-0 lead never looking back winning 4-1 in a dominating final performance. The Championship was staying in Canada, where it belonged.

Congratulations to the boys and coaching staff for their efforts and dedication. We're very proud of you.

Go Wild Go!
