2014-02-26

The Minor Bantam players with the support of their families have raised more than $15000 for breast Cancer.

This team of 17, thirteen year old players with the support of their families have raised more than $15000 for breast Cancer.
The Easter Wild Eastern Ontario Wild AAA Minor Bantam team hosted a “Brother from Another Mother” fundraiser this hockey season. The team got the community involved by posting our links on our team site. The players gathered pledges online and offline by going door to door and showcasing Breast Cancer at their Associate Day November 2, 2013 in Cornwall Ontario. The parents also got involved by leveraging the team picture at their places of work with a donations box.
One of our common themes that our coaches instilled in our team is that the players treat each other as family. With that in mind at the beginning of the season we were made aware that one our teammates (brothers) mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and was undergoing treatment because of her illness. Our team decided to show our support by attempting to raise money to go towards the research for the cure for this terrible disease. In an effort to solicit donations our team and our coaches shaved their heads on December 21 2013 to raise money for this cause.  The coaches set a goal to raise $15000 as a group.
With pledges from over 200 individuals this team raised over $15000.
